Brigade Internationale – Regard Extreme LP review

What makes the work unusual is that therewas trumpet and tribal bass guitaradded to the left in the freezing chamber minimal-synth. The only disadvantage of this work is not much pleasant vocals.
Rommel (from the private chart of top 10 coldwave albums)
Finally we have the reissue of the only album of the French clodwave band, which name’s dedicated to the Republican military units in the Spanish civil war. Originally recorded as a K7, this album was kept in “archives” until now when it’s re-released as a 12” LP, and how! Very nice sleeve and the inner card make the acquaintance with this record pleasant from the very beginning. The work itself is done in a very “cold”, “autumn” and “rainy” way, and one of the most important pluses in the release is that every reflection of emotions, like desperate “First Time” (two rather similar versions of which open A and B sides), quite schizo “Normal Night” (another two-version song of the release) or “Alone”, which reminds us also that coldwave has punk backgrounds even though it’s performed in a very coldwave style, is done in the recognizable Brigade Internationale manner and with the very own approach. “Frozen” guitar sounds, synths (by the way, performed by Cecile Balladino, better known from “Mary Goes Round”), tribal “jumping” bass, cold trombone and the voice which indeed can seem nasty before you imagine any other vocals for this band and understand that it will more harm than help, create the unique voice of the coldwave band of the mid 80’s which is worth to be re-discovered.
